Waste water sludge incineration

As the amount of sewage sludge accumulates daily and continuously increases the area required for sludge storage increases. The issue of its disposal is very acute.

The sludge formed as a result of wastewater treatment contains a huge amount of harmful substances: pathogenic microorganisms, various chemicals, heavy metals, etc. They are very harmful to human health and the environment, and can not be involved in any other process.

However, the sludge has a good calorific value which allows it to be used as energy through appropriate thermal processes.

As the land becomes smaller and the rules for handling precipitation are tightened, the incineration of waste from wastewater treatment plants is gaining popularity. In the incinerator water is vaporized and organic materials are burned, eliminating odors and reducing dehydrated sludge by 93% to less inert ash (only 7%).

Advantages of waste water sludge incineration:

  1. Modular construction and low need for installation space.
  2. No additional energy sources are required (for example, natural gas).
  3. Non-volatile sludge disposal, the use of heat from combustion to dry the sludge.
  4. Obtaining additional heat and electrical energy due to the heat released during the combustion of sludge.
  5. Maximum reduction in the volume and weight of sediment, minimization of transportation and storage costs.
  6. At the output, an inert product (ash) is formed which can be reused. For example, as an additive to fertilizers or in construction.
  7. Low emission of pollutants, compliance with all standards for clean air.
  8. Improve the CO2 balance, reduce soil and groundwater pollution.
